Setpoint tracking can be used in any controller. Main reason to use setpoint tracking is to minimize a bump in control: if someone places the controller in Manual mode, the target Setpoint (SP) will track, or follow, the Process Value (PV). So, in Manual mode, the controller output might be 40% with a PV of 238 kPathe SP will also be 238 kPa.

You can enter a tracking number, air waybill (AWB) number or reference number to track & trace a single international or domestic package, use CSV upload or restful shipment tracking API to track multiple packages. A ramping SP makes this easy – when in manual (or output tracking), the ramping SP should track the PV so that when the loop is returned to auto, it will ramp from where it is to the target SP. For cascaded loops – or any loop with additional logic downstream, rather than the OP simply driving an AO – output tracking is essential. With setpoint tracking in the controller, for the entire time the controller is in manual mode, the SP value of the controller will be held equal to the PV value (whatever that value happens to be). Once the operator decides that switching the controller to automatic mode is appropriate, the SP value freezes at the last PV manual mode value, and the controller will continue to control the PV at that SP value. Setpoint tracking can be used in any controller.

SP = SetPoint – the desired value for the PV. The PID controller looks at the setpoint and compares it with the actual value of the Process Variable (PV). Back in our house, the box of electronics that is the PID controller in our Heating and Cooling system looks at the value of the temperature sensor in the room and sees how close it is to 22°C.

23 Jul 2019 The purpose of setpoint tracking is to equalize SP and PV while the controller is in manual mode, so that when the controller gets switched back 

A PID controller continuously calculates an error value. PV Tracking is An option on many controllers. When a control loop is in MANUAL, with PV Tracking turned on, the controller setpoint (SP) will follow the PV. When the loop is returned to AUTO, there is no sudden movement of the process, because the PV is already at setpoint. If PV Tracking is turned off, returning to AUTO will drive the loop to its previous setpoint.
